GILLARD: Dewey L. Gillard, 88, of Florida and formerly of Pawcatuck, entered eternal lifer on Jan. 2, 2016 in FL. He was born Feb. 23, 1927 in Tallapoosa, GA the son of the late Arthur and Florist (Bates) Davis. After finishing from high school, he enlisted in the military. A WW II and Korean War veteran Mr. Gillard, was honorably discharged after 26 years service at the rank of Master Chief. He was united in marriage to the former, Eugenia Dandona in 1947, New London. His beloved wife survives him. Mr. Gillard was later employed in the civil service at the USCG Research Center Avery Point for 22 years. After retiring he and his wife moved to Boynton Beach FL. He is survived by three children. Dr. Glenn Gillard of Boynton Beach, FL, Lloyd Gillard and wife Celia of Glastonbury, CT and Gail Wildes and husband Kevin of Westerly, RI. Three grandchildren, Taylor and Ashley Wildes of Weaterly and Kaitlin Gillard of Glastonbury. Two Great grandchildren, Krisselyn and Ivy Wildes. Five siblings all of Georgia. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, New London with military honors.
