David Holway

HOLWAY: David Hoyt Holway, 82, of Ledyard entered eternal life on Nov. 6, 2021 in the company of his loving family. He was born Jan. 10, 1939 in Rockland, MA the son of the late Lowell and Ann (Donohew) Holway, Sr. Raised in Groton, David graduated from Fitch Senior High School. He attended UCONN and later graduated from Eastern CT State College, earning his Master Degree. He married the former Carol Baborsky on Aug. 6, 1960 in Groton. Mrs. Holway survives him, after 61 years of devoted marriage. Mr. Holway taught science in the Waterford school systems for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was the Waterford High School Varsity Golf Coach and was involved in coaching the basketball team as well. He was a long-time member of Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton where he had many friends and worked as a golf ranger after retirement. Besides his beloved wife Carol, he is survived by two daughters; Michelle Kloner and her husband Toby Kloner of Palm Bay FL and Jennifer Chrzanowski and Robert Allen of Norwich. Two siblings, Alex Holway and his wife Sharon of Lincoln, ME and Nancy Horowitz and her husband Ira of Gainesville, FL. David was a fantastic grandfather and is survived by his grandchildren Carolynn Tracy of Omaha NE, Catherine Lagace of Mystic, Tyson and Kendall Chrzanowski of Norwich, Ava Allen of Norwich and his great-grandson Colton Lagace of Mystic. All funeral services are private. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London has been entrusted with his care.
