THIELBAR: Daniel Gerald Thielbar, 72 of Waterford entered eternal life on Jan. 6, 2022 at home in the company of his loving family. He was born Dec. 25, 1949 in Fairbolt, Minnesota the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Dalaska) Thielbar. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Navy serving on board the USS Nautilus, during the Vietnam War, later was honorably discharged. He married the former Marianne DiNoto, on Aug. 12, 1972 in St. Paul Church, Mrs. Thielbar survives him. Daniel was employed, as a machinist for the Lee Co. retiring after 25 years. He was a Little League coach in Waterford, later became an umpire. He umpired for Little League and girl’s softball, high school baseball and girl’s high school softball for many years. He was a member of St. Luke Church, a meticulous individual who also enjoyed baking. Besides his beloved wife Marianne, he is survived by two sons; Geoff and wife Sarah Thielbar of Franklin, and Jason Thielbar of New London. A sister, Gerraine Stitt of GA, and two grandchildren Gavin and Travis. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, at 11 am (Jan. 13, 2022) from St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1830 CT-12, Gales Ferry, CT. Interment will be private. Donations in his memory to, St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with his care.
