Daniel Louis Cardillo, 69, entered eternal life on Sept. 2, 2016.

He was born Oct. 6, 1946, in New London, the son of the late Angelo and Cora (Holland) Cardillo.

He attended local schools, and graduated from New London High School, class of 1965, and later graduated from the former Hartford Barber School.

He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam era, and was honorably discharged.

Danny retired from the Thames Barber Shop after 42 years due to illness. During his years at the barbershop, he was well known for his wit and interest in many subjects, from sports to politics, as well as a vast wealth of information. He was a standard at New London High School sporting events as well as at most local high school teams in the area. He was an ardent fan of the former Hartford Whalers, the New York Mets and the Springfield Black Hawks . He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Seaside Council # 17, serving as Grand Knight, and a member of the Holy Ghost Society.

He is survived by three siblings, Kenneth Cardillo of New London, Lu-Ann Cox and husband, Donald, of Rhode Island, and Betty Barber and husband, Matthew, of Massachusetts; five nieces and nephews, Matt, Emma, Caroline, Stefan and Katie; a great nephew and niece, Kasey and Claudia Marie.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 9 a.m., and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
