ANASTASIOU: Christos Anastasiou, 83 of New London entered eternal life on Dec. 3, 2016 in the company of his loving family. He was born May 15, 1933 in Neakatuna, Greece the son of the late Phillipas and Rousa Anastasiou. He served in the Greek Army, and was later united in marriage to the former Sofia Golas in 1952. In 1966, he moved with his wife and two sons to the US. They settled in New London and he began working at Waterford Pizza Palace. He later opened his first restaurant Phillip’s Pizza. In 1982 with his two sons, they purchased Pizzarama Restaurant, working until his retirement. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening at home, cooking for family and friends. He was a proud family man and they meant the world to him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could always be found, fishing with his best friend and late brother in-law- Leo Niccolaou. Now the two will be fishing the seas of Heaven together again. Mr. Anastasiou was a member of St. Sophia Orthodox Church and was active in the Greek community. Besides his beloved wife Sofia of 64 years of marriage. He is survived by sons. Paul and wife Demetra Anastasiou, Bill and wife Iranthi Anastasiou all of Waterford. His four grandchildren. Sophia Anastasiou , Christina and husband Mike Skaros, Christopher and wife Karen Anastasiou, Lea Anastasiou and fiancé Travis. Two great grandsons, Alki and Dimtri. He was predeceased by four siblings, Pavlo, Melpo, Dimitrios and Penelope. Funeral services will be on, Wednesday at 11 am in St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St. New London. His family will receive guest from 10 am to 11 am at the church. Interment to follow in, Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London has been entrusted with his care.
