SMITH: Barbara Ann Smith, 73 of Mystic entered eternal life on Oct 5, 2018 in the comfort of her loving family and fiancé Alvin Thurston. She was born Dec. 4, 1944 in New London the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Goula) Johnson. Barbara was employed at, Stop & Shop in Groton for many years as a cashier before retiring. Beside her fiance’ Al of 28 years, Barbara is survived by a sister Elody DeNicolo of Bolton. Two step-daughters; Deborah Farmer, and Denise Blenkle both of MI. Her granddaughter, Nichole Hall, and two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Justin Hall. She was predeceased by her husband, Marquis A. Smith, a son Jason Allen Smith, and a step son; Mark E. Smith. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London. A graveside service will be held on, Wednesday at 11 am in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
