CRANDALL: Anna May Crandall, 97, of New London entered eternal life on May 1, 2016. She was born Feb. 24, 1919 in New London the daughter of the late Tony and Gladys (Pescatello) May. She attended local schools and graduated from the former Williams Memorial Institute class of 1937. She was united in marriage to Ralph Crandall on Nov. 20, 1937 in St. Joseph Church. Her beloved husband died Sept. 26, 1975. Anna worked at the kiddy pool at Ocean Beach and attended all the events such as music & dancing under the tent. In her day Anna was an achieved golfer, a member of the former New London Country Club and former New London City Duckpin League. She has been involved in many community voluntary projects such as, Senior Affairs Commission, Waterford Country School, Italian Festival Opera Committee, Trustee on the Gloria Lodge, Sons of Italy, Special Olympics, St. Joseph Women’s Club and Catholic Women’s Club. She was selected for Outstanding Community Service Columbus Award from the former Italian-American Civic Association of New London & Groton. She volunteered for Garde Arts Center, Eugene O’Neil Theater, and High Follies for L & M Hospital. She is survived by two sons. Ralph Crandall and wife Arlene of FL, William Crandall of FL and Waterford. Two Sisters, Mary Ann Tudisco and Gloria Riordan both of Waterford. Five grandchildren, Stacey Madden and husband Sean and their children Jack & Patrick, William, Barbara, Scott and Todd Crandall. She was predeceased by four siblings. Peter and Frank May, Eleanor Matcalf and Lena Grillo. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave. New London.
