Waterford – Alma (Carradori) Ruggiero, 85, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

She was born Dec. 31, 1930, in New London, the daughter of the late Antonio and Leda (Camillucci) Carradori. Alma was united in marriage to Francisco “Frank” Ruggiero, on Nov. 30, 1957, in New London. Frank predeceased her on Feb. 4, 2014.

Alma worked as a telephone operator and later as a bookkeeper at several local businesses. In 1968, she opened Mr. Frank’s Luncheonette in Waterford with her husband. Her career took her to Teamsters Local 493, where she retired in 1993. Alma attended the former Williams Memorial Institute and was an active member of the Williams Memorial Institute Pre-1955 Alumnae Association. She also served as treasurer of the Teamsters Local 493 retirees chapter. Her favorite pastime was bowling in the Garden Club Bowling League. She was a regular card player at the Waterford Community Center and also an ardent UConn Huskies basketball fan. She was an active member and descendent of the Italian Dramatic Club.

Alma is survived by two children, Robert L. Eldridge and wife, Lin Feng, of Uncasville and Dawn (Ruggiero) Boch and husband, Douglas, of Waterford; two granddaughters, Kelsey Boch of Farmington and Marisa Boch of Waterford; a sister, Norma (Carradori) White of New London and Tampa, Fla. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous special cousins and lifelong friends.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A funeral home service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
